Timeshift
A downloadable game for Windows
This is a game called Timeshift. My name is Aiden (Typha) and I'm the developer for this game, having worked on it for over a year now. This game is a 2D platformer about solving puzzles using momentum and save states, as I'm sure you can guess taking inspiration from games like Celeste and Portal. I currently have the first level completely done in the form of a playable demo available for Windows computers, and I hope you'll check that out!
My current plan for the game is to have 7 main levels, and 7 secret levels (unlocked by collecting all coins within the main level), with potential for more with this Kickstarter. The story follows your character, Quinn, as he arrives in a place called The Rift. Not much is known about the place besides the fact that it's very uncharted and very dangerous. Those who do survive report wildly different environments and a strange feeling of stillness. As Quinn gets to the entrance of The Rift, he learns that here he has the ability to warp himself through time. By saving his position, he can come back to it later, keeping all his current speed. Using this, Quinn can solve all sorts of puzzles. With mastery, it could be possible to do things unimaginable to others. That's the main challenge with this game, to work with this mechanic to make your way forward.
This saving and warping mechanic is something that I haven't seen done before in this way, and being used in a 2D platforming sense like this is good for both puzzle solving and movement. Getting a good handle on it means that you can fly through the levels, sometimes literally. Along with this, each level will have a different set of objects to interact with, all testing your ability with the save and warp in different ways. You might have a limited time to warp or you might have to reach a speed threshold to break through an obstacle. There will always be something new to test you.
